PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATION & MEDICATION MANAGEMENT
Mental health care goes beyond a prescription.

WHAT IT IS
A comprehensive assessment, not a fifteen-minute refill
A psychiatric evaluation is a thorough conversation with a psychiatric provider to understand your concerns, symptoms, history, and goals. Your provider reviews current symptoms, past diagnoses, medical history, medications, family history, lifestyle factors, and how symptoms are affecting your daily life.
Medication management is the ongoing part: follow-up visits to monitor how medications are working, evaluate benefits and side effects, make safe adjustments, and make sure treatment still matches your goals.
Our goal is not to prescribe medication automatically — it is to help you understand your options and find the approach that fits.
YOUR PLAN MAY INCLUDE
Medication options when appropriate and when the benefits out weigh the risks.
Laboratory testing to evaluate medical contributors to mood, energy, focus, and sleep.
Nutritional support and supplements that complement your plan.
Lifestyle recommendations for sleep, stress, and movement.
Genetic testing and referrals to additional services when helpful.
WHO IT HELPS
Conditions we evaluate and manage

Anxiety disorders, panic attacks, excessive worry
OCD symptoms
ADHD affecting school, work, or relationships
Sleep concerns related to mental health
Mood disorders, including bipolar evaluation

Medication management is not the right level of care for every situation. Patients in crisis, or who need detoxification, PHP/IOP, residential treatment, or specialized therapy or testing, may need a different level of care — and we will help connect you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions about psychiatric care
-
No. A referral is not required. If you are interested in establishing care, we will send intake forms to complete before your visit; once received and reviewed, our providers can typically schedule within two to three weeks.
-
A psychiatric evaluation is completed by a psychiatric provider such as a PMHNP and looks at your symptoms from a medical perspective, leading to a treatment plan that may include medication, labs, supplements, therapy recommendations, or referrals. A psychological evaluation is completed by a psychologist and involves standardized testing — cognitive and IQ testing, formal ADHD testing, learning disability and autism evaluations, personality and neuropsychological assessment — often used for diagnostic clarification or accommodations. In some cases both are helpful.
-
New patient evaluations are completed in person only and typically take 45–60 minutes. Follow-up visits generally run 15–45 minutes depending on your needs and the complexity of your plan.

Psyche NWA accepts select insurance plans, and coverage varies by plan, benefits, deductible, copay, and coinsurance. If we are in network, our team completes a verification of benefits before your appointment and provides a Good Faith Estimate when applicable. Estimated costs are due prior to seeing your provider; if a balance remains after the claim processes, we will contact you about payment options.
-
Not automatically. Medication can be a valuable tool, but it is only one part of mental health care. Recommendations may include labs, nutritional support, therapy, or lifestyle changes. Our goal is to help you understand your options and choose the approach that fits you.
-
New patient evaluations are in person only. Telehealth follow-ups may be available when clinically appropriate. Depending on your treatment approach, your provider may recommend more frequent in-person visits — and patients prescribed controlled substances are seen in person at least every three months.
-
Yes, and we encourage it. Mental health care is most effective when your care team works together. With your permission we coordinate with therapists, primary care providers, and specialists. A Release of Information form is required first.
